Mezzo Soprano


Rachel is an experienced music educator and vocal coach. She currently works as Choir Director for City Academy Chamber Choir (adults), HMDT Music's CYMH Instrumental School in Hackney (7-16 year olds) and she holds the post as music director at Christ Church Highbury, where she leads music worship ever Sunday and conducts a semi-pro jazz choir at the church's monthly jazz vespers service. Alongisde her choir directing work, she runs opera improvers courses and beginners singing classes for adults with City Academy Performing Arts Company, leads music theatre clubs in primary schools with HMDT Music's I can Sing! programme, works as a secondary school singing teacher with Hertfordshire Music Service and teaches individual students at her North London home.


She is extremely experienced working as a music director for youth theatre productions and currently works as Youth Director for Highbury Opera Theatre. Her role includes music facilitation work in Islington schools and co-ordinating and musically directing the children's chorus for HIghburyOperaTheatre's productions at the Union Chapel.


Previous music faciliation and directing posts include workshop faciliation with ConstellaOperaBallet's Canary Boys outreach project; Assistant Music Director for Haringey Shed's 2016 Summer production 'Our Time' and Music Director for Stockport Stagecoach Music Theatre School.


She has conducted choirs in iconic venues around the UK, from the UK amateur international choir competition at the Royal Northern College of Music Concert Hall to match fixture entertainment in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup at Langtree Park Stadium. Past choir directing positions have included Music Facilitator for Chant Productions; three years as Assistant Choral Director for the Highbury Young Singers in London; and sectional leader for Vox Holloway adult choir.


Rachel is also an experienced song writing project leader and has lead and organised song writing projects for children in the UK and abroad, delivering classes in English and French. This has included workshops with primary school children in Senegal; street children in South Africa with the Umthombo charity and song writing workshops for One Education (Manchester Music Service) and Merton Music Foundation with the London Vocal Project.


Rachel is comfortable working with children and adults with severe learning dfficutlies in both one-to-one and group teaching environments. Previous work with SEN students includes Assistant Music Director for Haringey Shed (7-19yr olds), individual singing teacher at Batchwood Secondary School in St Albans and Music Leader in care homes with P-zazz Performing Arts Company.


Rachel is dedicated to her music education work and attends regualr teacher training workshops and courses, which constribute to her current music education positions. This has included participating in the 2015-2016 prestigious Spitalfields trainee music in leadership workshop programme and bi-annual CPD training with Hertfordshire Music service. She attends annual Safeguarding training with Hertfordshire Music Service and has a 2016 registered DBS.  


Rachel is familiar with the Trinity, LCM Music Theatre, LCM Pop and Rock and ABRSM singing exam syllabuses and has had 100% pass rate for all students entered for exams. She can teach classical, music theatre, pop and jazz repertoire and technique. She teaches students of mixed abilities, from beginners to advanced.
